1990-95 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme Convertible: Oldsmobile got a convertible version of the W-body, and it was somewhat rare with only around 25,000 built. And while front-wheel-drive and its inherent understeer are not exactly the first choice of many enthusiastic drivers, the Cutlass Supreme convertible did come with a high-output version of GMs Quad Four and double overhead cam 3.4-liter V-6. Inexpensive four-seater American convertibles with decent performance are thin on the ground at this price point. Around five grand for a good one; a bit more for one with a manual transmission.
Condition: Wear and tear as expected. Tires are good (about 75% tread).
- Routine maintenance: oil/filter every 3000 miles, air/fuel filters, tires, brake pads and rotors, antifreeze fill/flush, battery, spark plugs, lubrication, fluids, belts, gaskets, wires, valves, bulbs, headlights, weather seals, wiper blades, underbody rust protection paint applications
- Repair/replacement history: new battery (2017), new stainless steel central and rear brake lines (2016); wiper pump (2008), transmission (2004), convertible top, power antenna, fog lights, rear shock absorbers, remote trunk switch, left speaker, PCV valve, air induction tube, oxygen sensor, accelerator cable, climate control knob, install XM radio, only accident/bodywork (2008) front left wheel came off at 40 mph (loose lugs after rotation)
- Known issues: Non-operational: AC, upper vents, overhead/backseat light, remote fob (likely needs battery); driver-side fog light is out of position; open recall on driver air bag; air bag light on in last 2 weeks; dash lights are dim, one horn, top leaks in 3 places in heavy rain, old seal/tape repair across rear window, rust at rear passenger side at/below trim level (photo looks much worse than is). Quick assessment by mechanic reveals car likely requires repair/replacement of fill neck, gas tank, and ball joints.
