Listing Information

1. Acrylic paint on canvas, "420 Portrait of Twiggy”.

Acquired from artist.

Alec Monopoly, is a street artist whose claim to fame is the use of the Parker Brothers legendary board game Monopoly character "Mr. Monopoly". The artist has worked in the urban environments of Miami, Los Angeles, Europe, Mexico, and throughout Asia using varied materials (including stencils, spray paint, epoxies, varnishes, and newspapers) to depict various iconic pop culture characters.

Mattia Biagi … mattiabiagi.com/tar-work

1. Tar Statue of Wizard of Oz Figurine Toys on Wood. Figurines from the original Motion Picture movie in 1939 starring Judy Garland.

2. Tar Statue of Teddy Bear encased in Perspex.

3. Tar Statue of Toy Doll Holding a Dollar Bill with a Dollar Bill Background and encased in Perspex.

Acquired from the artist.

Mattia Biagi is an independent artist that experiments with multimedia techniques such as bronze, marble, wood and black tar which became a signature medium. This work started in 2003 after a visit at La Brea Tar Pits, a geological area rich in tar deposits where some fossils have been found. Here the new idea of black tar was born: the magic ritual of dipping domestic objects into tar, creating a new aesthetic form that crystallizes materials, exalting them under a black coating. The object is covered by the tactile texture of tar that the artist can mold to his liking. The covering process is obtained thanks to a high technical skill: the artist is able to control the straining of the tar in order to create every time a unique work of art. The created surface is a sort of trademark of the artist: it is obtained always with the same process but it reveals its uniqueness thanks to its changing aspect. He has created installations in numerous galleries and museums all over the world, including video installations, large scale installations and have permanent work exhibited in Museums in the USA and Italy. Due to a rise to prominence on the international art scene he was commissioned by Johnnie Walker to design and be the face of their worldwide advertising campaign for the production of  a series of limited edition bottles that received a best packaging award in the U.K.

Paul P. and Scott Treleaven … boho.art

1. "Untitled, Portal Photograph” Series of 4

Acquired from The Fireplace Project Gallery in NY.

Scott Treleaven first came to attention in the late 90s via a series of experimental films and underground zines. A constantly shifting approach to creation has become the defining aspect of a practice that has, over the past two decades, encompassed abstract drawing and painting, sculpture, photography and collage. Rather than adhere to mediums, tenets or genres, Treleaven’s work hinges on uncertainty, transformation and multiplicity as it seeks to describe and evolve an alternate (and ontologically queer) history of art making; one that originates as part of a transcendental, rather than purely formal, tradition.

Allyson Grey … allysongrey.com

1. “Chaos, Order & Secret Writing” — Limited Edition 1 of 20

Acquired from Cosm.org.

Allyson Grey, a conceptual abstract painter and co-founder of CoSM, Chapel of Sacred Mirrors, has long been a mentor and influencer of the contemporary Visionary Art movement. In 1971, in a psychedelic awakening through the guidance of Ram Dass’ book Be Here Now, Allyson heard a voice calling her to express in her art an essentialized world view. Chaos, Order & Secret Writing came to artistically symbolize the three essential characteristics of human perception, a minimal yet all-encompassing artistic statement worthy of immersion for a lifetime. Allyson’s art is a personal and shared meditation on the structure of thought, life and enlightenment. These etchings were hand drawn and pulled from a printmaking press by hand by an atelier in Orange County, California. The edition of "Chaos Order and Secret Writing" is limited to only twenty prints.  Chaos, Order, and Secret Writing portray symbols of the artists essentialized world view: Chaos symbolizes the material world of entropy, disorder and unpredictability existent in every system in the physical world.  Order suggest the bliss realms of unity and interconnectedness experienced in altered or transcendental states also known as Nirvana or heaven.  Secret Writing has twenty characters that are unpronounceable, corresponding to the mysterious language of creative expression.

Fernando Mastrangelo … fernandomastrangelo.com

1.    “Stella 3”, Black Sculpture, 2011 — Numbered 1 of 12

Acquired from at art dealer, Kevin Bruk — Miami, FL.

Mastrangelo presents “Black Sculpture”—three-dimensional renderings of work by Frank Stella and Ad Reinhardt cast from compressed gunpowder. The sculptures aren’t a precise chromatic black. A close look reveals subtle gradation and crystallization in the gunpowder, itself on the precipice of a bright flash and cloud of smoke. For “Black Sculpture,” Mastrangelo focuses on art history for the first time. After creating exact molds based on the work of Frank Stella and Ad Reinhardt, Mastrangelo casts his reliefs out of compacted gunpowder. Fernando Mastrangelo is a New York-based artist best known for his collectible design, as well as his large scale sculptures and experiential installations. Mastrangelo currently has works in numerous private collections worldwide, as well as works residing in the permanent collections of the Brooklyn Museum and the Cooper Hewitt Museum. He has designed custom works and spaces for top-tier brands such as Audemars Piguet, Stella McCartney, and Dior. Fernando Mastrangelo received an MFA in Sculpture from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2004. He has exhibited internationally, and is in the permanent collection of the Brooklyn Museum.
