Listing Information
5/14 Richard Lee Herbert, Sr. Estate Coin,Rare Currency & Gold Online Auction Richard Lee Herbert, Sr. Coin Auction Comments This auction of our Dads coin collection comes with mixed emotions. Our Dad was friendly, generous, and hard working all his life. A humble childhood during the Great Depression developed a young boy with an appreciation for collecting. A military background in the Marine Corps and Navy shaped a strong man of high moral character and love for country. Countless trophies recount his early days as a traveling salesman. He served as a Produce Manager in a major grocery chain for over 30 years. His personality was one of a kind! Richard, or fondly known to friends and family as Dick, was loved by his family deeply. His grandchildren admired and adored him. He held high moral standards for all his children and grandchildren and yet never let them forget how much he loved them. This collection was so very special to him! He spent hours examining, planning, organizing, and evaluating his collection and deciding what to buy next. The President of the local coin and stamp club in the county, he relished every single piece of his vast collection, and never missed an opportunity to share his newest acquisition with the family upon our next visit. He also never tired of showing his collection to friends and even acquaintances who would stop by the house with an open ear. For birthdays and holidays, we all got lists of the next items he wanted to add to his collection. While he enjoyed this collection immensely, he also saw it as an investment that would someday benefit him and his family. Sadly, he passed away in 2001 and that makes departing with his valued collection even harder for those left behind. We hope that those purchasing his collection will appreciate the intense planning, meticulous care, and intense gratification that he derived from each and every piece. You are buying a piece of history, a snapshot in time of our countrys great history. But you are also investing in a legacy that goes far beyond metal and mint. Our only regret is that you will not have the pleasure of meeting the man behind this great collection, but assure you that he will be smiling from above, once more showing off his collection.
