Alfred Bester was an American science fiction author, TV and radio scriptwriter,
writing for Superman and The Shadow, "Holiday" magazine editor and scriptwriter for Superman and Green Lanterncomics. He is best remembered for his science fiction, including The Demolished Man, winner of the inaugural Hugo Award in 1953.

Rolly Bester, his wife, was the first Lois Lane on the radio and a Broadway actress. Appeared in the Sherlock Holmes TV Series and was an advertising executive on 5th Ave. in NY.
