Listing Information

Preview: Sun Sept 4th from 1-4 PM at 11037 Linwood Rd, Bowling Green, OH  43402.  These were purchased as a frame, with motor and sheet metal from Firewall Forward. When purchased, the owner would have a carpenter or cabinet maker build the bodies, for which the owner would build to how they would use the vehicle. Owner thinks this was a Wrecker Truck, but there wasn't enough left to the body to prove that. Owner purchased truck in 1999 and had a total frame off restoration of every nut and bolt. It took 4 years to restore truck and build the body on it. This 1923 Chevrolet seats 2 people up front and 5 in the back. There is a storage area behind the rear seat with swing open door from the back. The truck has a "fat man's steering wheel" allowing a person to enter the cab from driver's side. The motor is not the original, but owner thinks from a 1927 block. Most parts from 1918-1928 are interchangeable in those years. The motor was totally rebuilt in 2003. These motors didn't have valve covers on until 1928, and they were called breadpans then, as it set loosely over valves with no seal to it. Also notice the pushrods are exposed as they should be from 1918-1927. The top valves get oiled by oil can under the hood of the firewall. Bottom half of motor gets oil from splash system in oil pain. The motor is a 6 volt system with electric starter. Can also be started with an old hand crank. Original sizes for truck: Rear tires 34x4.5, front tires 31x4. Goodrich Silvertown tires. 3 speed manual transmission with reverse. Drum brakes only on rear. See pictures for details! This is a 20 year restoration, so there is room for improvement bakc to its full glory. Owner did not attend many shows, but 90% of the time it won a trophy!
