Made in Germany. Mainzelmännchen are six comedic cartoon characters used as mascots for German public service television broadcaster ZDF. They first aired on television in 1963 as a way to accommodate a government regulation disallowing confusion between advertising and commercials. Their names are Anton, Berti, Conni, Det, Edi and Fritzchen and they all represent a certain type of character. The Mainzelmännchens on offer here are from the late 60s/early 70s and thus very early collectors merchandise items. They are made of hollow rubber and in fair to very good condition for their age.
