DYNAMIC AUCTION CLOSING TIME: The lots in this auction will close in groups of 100 lots beginning at 9:00 PM, and with each addition group of 100 lots closing in 5 minute intervals. Please note that there is also a 5 minute auto-extend for each lot in all of our auctions. For example, if a lot in the auction is scheduled to close at 9:00 PM and someone places a bid at 8:59, the system will auto extend 5 minutes to give the previous bidders time to bid again. BID RETRACTION: By placing a bid, buyer and all other bidders acknowledge all terms of the auction and agree not to retract the bid. ESTATE OF RUTH BRAGDON DONOVAN: Antique and vintage jewelry in lots ranging from 1175 up to 1299 include a RARE antique sterling silver TIFFANY 3 compartment mirrored compact with sterling silver pencil, a huge 14k gold amethyst and diamond pendant, 14k gold / diamond earrings and much, much more. Ruth's mother and father were Pittsburgh natives who spent a career in the Army Corps of Engineers from 1915 to 1951 and were even at the White House with Mr. Donovan's West Point classmate Dwight Eisenhower from 1953 to 1961. Ruth was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts and lived with her family at various Army postings including Boston, Kansas, Colorado, the Philippines (with General MacArthur), New York, Rhode Island, and Richmond. Ruth graduated from Brown University, married her college sweetheart, and moved to Macon, Georgia when her husband who joined the Army Air Corps. Her husband died at Cochran Field while flying with a British cadet. After the war, Ruth married a Navy aviator veteran and moved to Pennsylvania. This collection includes items from her grandmother, her mother, and her own acquisitions. ESTATE OF CARL MARSHALL STORY: This fantastic collection from the Estate of attorney Carl Marshall Story really stands out. His family originally owned the property where the Warner Robins Air Force Base now sits. The Story family moved their home, but had to leave their family Oak tree. General / Base Commander L. E. Thomas issued a protective order to protect the tree indefinitely where it can still be seen. The article and many other fantastic treasures from his life are included in this auction. Carl Marshall Story was one of the brave heroes who first stormed Normandy during WWII. Many of his service photos during this campaign are apart of this auction as well as letters and other memorabilia. Carl made it back from France at war's end, created a law practice in downtown Macon, and then died of a massive heart attack at the young age of 32. This collection has been in storage ever since.
